Risks of Wearing Vintage Sneakers
We offer over 2,000 exclusive collectible sneakers in both new and worn condition. Because we buy sneakers from individuals and resell them, we cannot guarantee their wearability. The older the sneaker, the greater the risk. Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse damage that occurs from wearing them.
To help you out, we’ve arranged a partnership with professional sneaker restorers, so you can have damage repaired at reduced rates. This service is available up to three months after purchase. Even a damaged sneaker retains value.
New, Worn, and Non-Wearable
On each product page, you’ll find multiple photos and a condition description of the sneakers. This includes whether the sneakers are new or worn and any specific notes. Most sneakers are wearable. For sneakers older than 8 years, we cannot always guarantee that.
When a sneaker is not wearable or poses a high risk, this will be indicated. Some collectible sneakers are intended for display or collection purposes only.
Please note: We do not carry out repairs ourselves but connect you with Sneakerfresh.nl, our restoration partner. Repair costs are not covered by us. Wearing sneakers is always at your own risk.
Restorations and Pricing
1. Dried Glue: Reglue
In sneakers older than 8 years, the glue can dry out, causing parts of the sole to come loose. This can be fixed with a reglue: the sole is completely removed, old glue is cleared, and new flexible glue is applied.
Cost: €39,95. A loose front tab is repaired free of charge.
2. Brittle Sole: Soleswap
For sneakers older than 15 years, the midsole can dry out and crack. In extreme cases, the sole may crumble with the first step. This can only be repaired with a soleswap, which requires a donor sole.
Cost: €109,95. Reattaching the original outsole costs an additional €34,95.
3. Old Paint: Repaint
Due to age or wear, the paint layer can flake or fade. A repaint using special flexible paint can restore this. Sometimes the old paint must first be removed.
Cost: Standard repaint €49,95. Custom work available on request.
Examples of Wear and Aging
Vintage Air Bubble
A yellowed and foggy air bubble indicates that the midsole is aged and wearing the sneaker is very risky.
Midsole Separation
The upper and mudguard are coming loose from the midsole. If the midsole is still intact, it needs to be reattached with a reglue.
Midsole Cracks
When a sole dries out, it becomes porous. This leads to full cracks in the midsole. A sole swap is required.
Outsole Separation
The outsole detaches from the midsole. In most cases, the entire outsole needs to be reattached using a reglue.
Nose Separation
The outsole at the toe area comes loose. In most cases, a simple reglue is sufficient to reattach the front tab.
Paint Cracks
The sneakers are still wearable, but the paint layer is cracking. A repaint provides a temporary fix, though the paint may crack again with wear.
Paint Chipping
In addition to cracks, the paint may also chip off. A repaint can be a solution, but the paint may crack again with wear.
Leather Cracks
The leather peels due to aging. This requires custom work, as the material beneath the leather paint is usually fabric.
Nubuck Cracks
Durabuck and nubuck older than 10 years can crack. The sneakers remain wearable, but the material shows visible wear.
Torn Heel Lining
The material in the heel has torn due to wear. This can be repaired by adding extra material. We do not offer a service arrangement for this type of repair.
Sacked Heels
When the heel has been stepped on, the material becomes collapsed. This can be fully restored by opening up the heel. We do not offer a service arrangement for this type of repair.
